Job Description

Plan, coordinate, and complete assigned editing/writing and meeting support tasks independently with minimal guidance/supervision. Ensure adherence to publication standards and specifications for technical and scientific documentation. Research and organize technical information for editing/writing projects. Coordinate documentation efforts with graphics, technical services, CADS, and drafting as required. Support process improvement, quality initiatives, and participate in process development and documentation. Knowledge of NASA and applicable contract standards and guidelines is necessary.

  • Must be able to write and consolidate detailed information into a clear and concise set of technical minutes, while capturing essential data.
  • Perform writing, editing, and proofreading functions to ensure proper use of punctuation, voice, and grammar, verify ISO/contract standards are met, and provide consistent presentation of material in style and format
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize schedules, and develop advanced writing skills
  • Mentor and cross-train junior level peers in editing and writing tasks, meeting support and projects
  • Support a variety of customer documentation types including, but not limited to, Console Handbooks, Flight Software documentation, Systems Handbooks, and Work Instructions and procedures
  • Write information pieces for Web publishing, customer data products, and documentation
  • Perform project and/or documentation coordination duties as assigned
  • Perform mandatory quality assurance checks on all products to ensure quality and contract/NASA standards are met.
  • Participate in project/documentation planning meetings/activities with customers, as needed
  • Participate in troubleshooting issues and assisting team members in use and application of various software applications and databases
  • Interface with department personnel as necessary to ensure clear communication is established and maintained for all phases of project support
  • Keep abreast of contractual requirements, internal desk instructions, and sources of information to include GPO Style Manual, IMOC Style Guide, internal Desk Instructions, and other resource reference materials. This includes changing technology and upgrades that impact projects/jobs
  • Work flexible hours to support FOD critical or emergency tasks as required
  • Maintain proficiency in document publishing systems, processes, and desktop applications
  • Provide meeting support, including
    • Track and maintain action item databases/or Web sites
    • Respond to meeting requests via established processes/communications
    • Collaborate with meeting support team and PM/group lead to meet needs for FOD customers
    • Provide minutes/or notes, action items, agendas, and logistic support. Must provide support using various communication tools and logistics tools to support meeting setup (Skype, WebEx, SharePoint, Etc.).
    • Coordinate meetings and communications for the customer
    • Post information and presentations to Web sites as required; monitor mailboxes for communications on meeting assignments/actions
    • Provide quality checks on minutes/actions for peers
  • Maintain up-to-date productivity records; update RCS as required to keep records current on all work.
  • Safely perform all tasks and provide communication of all activities, planned and completed. Support IMOC-II administrative requests and initiatives. Complete training activity required for assigned job duties and complete assigned administrative tasks. Accurately complete timecards, consistently submit IMOC-II Activity Reports, and participate in IMOC department and GCS staff meetings. Incorporate safety into daily work by participating in safety activities and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Follow established GCS policy and guidelines for company processes, timekeeping, leave requests, safety, and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience

Baccalaureate degree with emphasis/major in English/Journalism or related field.

Minimum of 4 years in related technical editing/writing. Some technical writing experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Professional communication skills in dealing with technical customers desired. MSOffice experience a must. Familiarity with NASA/IMOC documentation standards necessary.
