Job Description

The position will be with the Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) supporting NASA’s Human Systems Engineering Department at JSC, through technical support for provisioning tasks supporting the flight food system for International Space Station. Provisioning tasks include procuring food products and ingredients from local suppliers; transferring ingredients and materials between suppliers, Wyle Receiving, JSC Bonded Storage, and the Space Food Systems Laboratory; preparing food products for further processing; flight packaging; stowage of flight food containers; facility cleaning and equipment maintenance, as assigned.

  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training
  • Assist in the preparation of food products for flight, including preparation of facility, food preparation, flight packaging, quality assurance testing, and container stowage.
  • Check equipment settings and conduct routine cleaning and maintenance, as required, prior to food production.
  • Pick-up food products and ingredients from local vendors.
  • Transfer ingredients and materials between JSC Bonded Storage and the Space Food Systems Laboratory.
  • Assist with equipment and facility cleaning operations.
Qualifications & Experience

High School diploma, with previous experience in food production settings. Basic computer skills; MS Word, Excel. Good written and oral communication skills.

Post-secondary training in food service or culinary arts, ServSafe certification.
